The weekend before the 4th we spent the days playing. Deven had Friday off because DC is moving (finally) up to Huntington (from Vista). So they were packing up the computers on Friday, we we got to play. We took the rest of the Marriott week of the Stephens' and stayed Thursday, and Friday night.
Thursday night we went into Laguna for Dinner and stumbled upon the "gallery stroll." It was so cool, all the art galleries in Laguna stay open late, have music, and treats. You can just walk around and see all the art and even hear from the artists if you want. Then we grabbed dinner at a yummy italian place.

Friday, Deven went surfing at Laguna, and then we spent the rest of the day sitting by the pool. After another delicious dinner in Laguna, and some ice cream, we called it a night.
Saturday we check out of the hotel and went to see our own little beach festivities. Huntington Beach has a 3 day "4th Fair" with booths and a huge surf competition. We walked around the booths and watched the surfers from the pier. It was really fun. The booths reminded me of Provo which was great to have a slice of home on a holiday.
On the pier watching the surfers
Deven in front of the booths. They had EVERYTHING.
When I say everything I mean it. Pickle on a stick anyone? How about a mexican wrestling mask?
Later that night we went to the Huntington Beach Stake program they put on for missionary work. They do a huge patriotic program and have hotdogs after. It was so fun, they do a great job. I guess they have been doing it for over 40 years! They had a darling kids choir, teen dancers, and military support. The adult choir sounded great too. It was great.
