This last weekend Deven and I went up to LA for X-games. His work gave us both some tickets to the street skate, and the rally car event. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. There was a little bit of frustration trying to get to and from the hotel we parked at because apparently no one in the action sports industry likes to communicate, but other then that it was great.
Both events were fun. Lots of good people watching, and a great sunny day. The skate was, of course, really fun to watch...but we were both surprised how much we liked watching the Super Rally. Deven's CEO is a rally car driver, and would have won gold, but his car broke on the last lap! So weird how much they rely on the stupid car.
Huntington Beach hosts the Surf US Open. Nike, Hurley, and Converse are the sponsors this year and they went to town! The whole beach has been transformed the last couple of weeks. We went this morning before Deven had to go to work and watched Dane Reynolds somehow do amazing things on tiny waves. It is so fun to be so close to events like this.
